Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology provides the Clinical Audit - Pap
Smears for doctors who wish to audit their clinical practice
associated with the collection of Pap smears. The audit is
available to any General Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner or
Practice Nurse who refers patients for Pap smears to Sullivan
Nicolaides Pathology.
It is an independent programme that has been created to provide
participants with feedback about their own practice in comparison
to that of both others in their peer group and to the general
practitioner cohort.
This Clinical Audit - Pap Smears runs for the duration of the
2011- 2013 triennium. Eligible participants with a current RACGP QI
& CPD number may attain 40 Category 1 points (Activity Number
752575).
Points are awarded at the completion of '2 timed periods'.
Participants may become eligible for an additional allocation of
points by undertaking and completing additional '2 timed
periods'.
Completion of '2 timed periods' requires that the personal
evaluations sent with your 6 monthly reports must be completed and
returned.
SNP manages the points notification process on behalf of general
practitoners.
The Clinical Pap Smear Audit Program is also accredited by ACRRM
for 30 PRPD points.

Registration
Participants are required to register for the programme.
Registration forms are available in hardcopy or alternatively they

Once registrations are received and processed, you will receive a
confirmation letter and pre-enrolment quiz. Specialised Pap Smear
Audit request forms are required for the referral of Pap Smears.
The forms which are a distinctive fuschia pink, and personally
bar-coded with your details, will be supplied within 7 working days
of receipt of you registration. Pap Smear Audit forms are only
available in A4 format. These forms are compatible with most
commonly used Practice Management Software. Only Pap smears
referred on Pap Smear Audit request forms will be included in the
audit.
Data Collection
The additional data points for the audit are recorded in the tick
boxes on the request from. SNP enter this data into the proprietary
system for subsequent reporting.
Comprehensive Reporting
Reports are generated at regular intervals to provide you with
feedback about your clinical practice in comparison with your peers
and the wider GP group in the following areas:
• endocervical component by age
• causes of technically unsatisfactory smears
• summary of collection devices used and Thin-prep
samples
• summary abnormalities detected
