Dr Andrew Bettington is a specialist dermatopathologist at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology, Brisbane. He graduated from The University of Queensland Medical School in 2005 before going on to train in anatomical pathology at Princess Alexandra Hospital where he developed special interests in GI pathology, dermatopathology and breast pathology. He gained Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Fellowship in 2012 and moved to Lismore in the same year. He worked at the Lismore Base Hospital before joining Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology's Lismore laboratory in 2013.

Dr Bettington was for three years Pathologist-in-Charge of the Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology Lismore laboratory delivering health services to a large regional catchment. Throughout the period he developed expertise in a broad range of histopathology with a focus on dermatopathology and GI pathology.

He is now based at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology's main laboratory at Bowen Hills, where as a member of the skin pathology team, he reports across all areas of dermatopathology.

In 2019, Dr Bettington was awarded the prestigious International Board Certificate in Dermatopathology. A maximum of only 35 applicants are accepted worldwide each year to sit for the stringent three-part examination, which is organised under the auspices of the International Committee for Dermatopathology (ICDP) and the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).
