Dr Kunawut Limarporn is an anatomical pathologist at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology's main laboratory, Brisbane, where he reports across a range of specialties including: dermatopathology; soft tissue and bone pathology; ophthalmic pathology; and cytopathology.
Dr Limarporn graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Chiangmai University, Thailand in 2001 and went on to train in anatomical pathology at the Maharaj Nakorn Hospital (the university teaching hospital affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine of Chiang Mai University) and Phramongkutkloa Hospital, Thailand.
In 2006, Dr Limarporn moved to Australia, completed his internship at The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and subsequently undertook anatomical pathology training in Brisbane.
He gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2012 and joined SNP's Mackay laboratory in January 2013.
Dr Limarporn later moved to Brisbane in late 2014 to join SNP's histopathology department but he has continued to report Mackay cases as part of his daily work. He regular visits Mackay and maintains an active role in the local Mackay and Whitsundays medical community, regularly attending multidisciplinary team meetings with colleagues in other specialities to review and discuss cases. He is also involved in SNP's registrar training program.
In 2019, Dr Limarporn was awarded the prestigious International Board Certificate in Dermatopathology. A maximum of only 35 applicants are accepted worldwide each year to sit for the stringent three-part examination, which is organised under the auspices of the International Committee for Dermatopathology (ICDP) and the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).
