Dr Melissa Engler is a consultant histopathologist specialising in breast and endocrine pathology, uropathology and cytopathology at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology’s main laboratory, Bowen Hills in Brisbane.
Dr Engler graduated in medicine from The University of Queensland’s undergraduate course in 1999. She undertook an internship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, a Junior House Officer year at the Cairns Base Hospital and a two year enrolment in basic surgical training as a Senior House Officer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. This was followed by specialist Anatomical and Cytopathology training through Pathology Queensland, undertaken at various laboratories in South East Queensland.
Dr Engler was awarded Fellowship of The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in early 2009, joining SNP the same year.
Dr Engler has memberships with the International Academy of Pathology, the International Society of Urologic Pathology and the Australian Society of Cytology.
She reports breast and endocrine pathology, uropathology and cytopathology and receives consultation material in endocrine and uropathology. Dr Engler participates in regular breast and urology multidisciplinary meetings across Brisbane and she supports registrar training.
