Dr Natalie Dixon graduated in Medicine with First Class Honours from The University of Queensland in 2004 and completed her training in anatomical pathology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2011. She commenced as a consultant pathologist for Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology in mid-2013 and is the Pathologist-in-Charge of the SNP Cairns laboratory. Special areas of interest include gastrointestinal pathology, dermatopathology and medical education.
Dr Dixon is committed to making a valuable contribution the Cairns medical community has been a senior lecturer at James Cook University for the past five years. She holds weekly dermatopathology training sessions for rotating dermatology registrars. She regularly participates in a number of multidisciplinary meetings and has presented numerous times at the Cairns Gastroenterology Education Club.
In 2019, Dr Dixon was awarded the prestigious International Board Certificate in Dermatopathology. A maximum of only 35 applicants are accepted worldwide each year to sit for the stringent three-part examination, which is organised under the auspices of the International Committee for Dermatopathology (ICDP) and the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).
She is a member of the Australasian Dermatopathology Society, the Australasian Gastrointestinal Pathology Society and Australasian Division of the International Academy of Pathology and regularly attends national and international dermatopathology and gastrointestinal pathology conferences.
