Dr Rhonda Edwards is one of Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology's senior anatomical pathologists and a widely-respected member of the specialist dermatopathology team. Known for her expertise, her advice and opinion are frequently sought by her colleagues across the practice.

Dr Edwards studied medicine at The University of Melbourne, graduating in 1990. She began her medical career in general practice, gaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1996. She then worked broadly in the hospital environment and primary care on the central NSW coast, in Sydney and Canberra. During this time, she gained clinical experience that she considers has helped her greatly with an appreciation of the clinician's perspective when disseminating pathology reports.

Pursuing a long-standing interest in pathology and a wish to concentrate on a single area of medicine, Dr Edwards went on to train in anatomical pathology at The Canberra Hospital, completing her final year at The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2006. At the same time, she accepted an invitation by Professor David Weedon to join SNP's dermatopathology team.

Dr Edwards was for some time Deputy Pathologist-in-Charge of the SNP Histopathology Department and she has served on the SNP Executive Advisory Committee.

She particularly enjoys the challenge of complex cases and performs a role in providing advice and support to regional pathologists seeking to confer on dermatopathology. She enjoys the collaborative practice culture and derives great professional satisfaction from providing consultation and second opinions to her colleagues in the Brisbane skin team.

She regularly attends international meetings and has presented on topics relating to her areas of interest. She takes an active role in educating and mentoring registrars and junior pathologists.
