Dr Sarah McGahan is a specialist histopathologist and Pathologist-in-Charge of Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology's Lismore laboratory. A graduate of The University of Queensland she trained in pathology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney gaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 1994. She moved to Northern NSW in 1995 where she worked at the Lismore Base Hospital for 13 years gaining experience across many areas including dermatopathology, gastrointestinal pathology and breast pathology.
Dr McGahan joined SNP in 2008. Working in a busy rural laboratory with a large catchment she has developed expertise in a broad range of histopathology with a particular interest in melanoma. She is an active member of her local medical community attending regular interdisciplinary clinical meetings with colleagues in other specialities to review and discuss cases. She believes developing positive relationships is essential to delivering a high standard of service. Dr McGahan has mentored registrars and medical students. She regularly attends national and international meetings.
