In response to the accelerated testing for COVID-19 and an associated low incidence of Influenza, COVID-19 testing alone will be performed, unless there is a specific request for other respiratory virus testing noted on the request form.
In the event that the COVID-19 test is negative and there is a high index of suspicion for Influenza, or another respiratory virus that is of clinical importance for the patient, please contact SNP on (07) 3377 8528 to have the respiratory virus panel added.

Negative COVID-19 SMS service now available
SNP has implemented an SMS notification service* to send negative COVID-19 results directly to patients. This service is in addition to the already established report delivery process for referring and copy-to doctors.
The SMS will advise the patient to continue to follow any quarantine directive in place and to contact their referring medical practitioner for further assistance and advice.
The COVID-19 negative SMS notification service operates 24 hours a day.
*Service available when the referring practitioner has provided a mobile contact number for the patient.

Critical patient results
Critical result values are testing values that may indicate a life-threatening medical condition and require immediate notification to the referring doctor (irrespective of whether the pathology request was marked urgent).
Our Doctor Services Centre will contact the referrer by phone to advise of any critical values when reporting patient results.
Skin cancer surgical audit
Our skin cancer surgical audit is a professional development tool that uses peer-comparisons to encourage ongoing refinement of diagnostic, detection and collection skills amongst our participants. It is an independent program with an extensive, national database.
